Troops move to clear bandits from national park

The Nigerian military’s Operation Fansan Yamma is intensifying efforts to combat bandits and terrorists in Niger State, particularly in the Kainji Lake National Park and Babana areas.

Major-General Warrah Idris, Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North-West, revealed this during a meeting with Niger State Governor Umar Bago in Minna.

The operation aims to flush out entrenched bandits and restore stability in the region.

Idris stated that operational assessments have been completed, and plans for necessary actions are underway.

He emphasized the need for collaboration with residents and the state government to achieve success.

Governor Bago called for the establishment of Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) to prevent the movement of miscreants into Niger State and appealed for the recruitment of 25,000 Niger youths into the military to strengthen the fight against insecurity.

He expressed confidence that Operation Fansan Yamma would soon address the situation.

Operation Fansan Yamma is a federal joint military initiative designed to combat insecurity across the North-West and parts of the North-Central region.

The operation has already recorded successes, including the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of their hideouts in Zamfara and Sokoto States.
