The Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area in Kogi State, Tosin Olokun, has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew across the council to address renewed bandit activities.
Announced through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Adeyemi Babarinde Sunday, the curfew, effective immediately, will run daily from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and applies to all communities in Yagba West.
The decision follows intelligence reports and ongoing security operations targeting criminal hideouts in border areas and forest zones.
Olokun explained that restricting night-time movement would enhance coordinated patrols, surveillance, and clampdowns by security operatives.
“The safety of our people is our top priority. This curfew is a proactive measure to strengthen ongoing efforts and prevent criminal infiltration,” he stated, warning that violators or those aiding criminal activities would face severe penalties.
The Chairman commended the Joint Task Force, Hunters, Vigilantes, and other security units for their commitment and assured them of continued local government support.
He urged residents, community leaders, and youth groups to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to maintain peace in Yagba West.
