FG Set to Reveal Sponsors of Terrorism as Security Crisis Deepens

The Federal Government says it is close to publicly identifying individuals and networks suspected of financing terrorism across the country.

This follows confirmation from Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, who said on Sunday that the administration is concluding internal processes required for the disclosure.

Speaking during an interview on TVC, Bwala said the government has taken firm decisions on security matters and Nigerians will begin to see “clear and decisive outcomes” in the coming days.

He noted that the fight against terrorism has entered a new phase, one requiring greater transparency, collaboration, and intelligence sharing at both national and international levels.

According to him, terrorism can no longer be viewed as a localised problem, as extremist groups now operate through cross-border networks.

This, he said, makes international cooperation unavoidable.

Bwala added that global powers are paying closer attention to countries like Nigeria, where militants are attempting to expand their influence across the Sahel.

“Since the events of 9/11, terrorism has been treated as a global security issue. Any nation where terrorists operate becomes a concern to the rest of the world,” he said.

He urged Nigeria’s international partners to continue strengthening their support for counter-terrorism efforts, noting that such alliances are critical to cutting off financial channels and organised cells.

Bwala explained that militant activities that once dominated the Middle East have gradually shifted toward the Sahel region, creating new clusters of insecurity and increasing pressure on governments in West Africa to share intelligence and work together.

He disclosed that the Tinubu administration has been working “quietly but aggressively” to dismantle local networks fueling violence. He also assured that the results of these efforts will soon become visible.

“At home, the government is making decisive interventions. In the coming days, Nigerians will know who the terrorists are and those funding them,” he said.

The Federal Government has not given a specific date for the announcement, but sources suggest the disclosures may form part of a broader security review currently underway
