Senate President Godswill Akpabio has refuted reports claiming he recently instituted a fresh ₦200 billion lawsuit against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio described the trending claims as false and deliberately misleading.
According to Udom, the lawsuit being referenced is not new. He explained that the legal action was filed more than three months ago and has been progressing through the regular administrative and judicial stages.
He stressed that nothing about the suit was suddenly initiated, contrary to social media narratives.
Udom noted that the case encountered temporary delays due to routine court procedures.
When the matter resumed, the court’s bailiff reportedly made multiple attempts to serve Senator Natasha with the originating processes, but each effort failed.
He added that the bailiff’s affidavit before the court suggests Natasha allegedly evaded personal service, prompting the judge to approve a request for substituted service in November.
Akpabio maintained that political disagreements should be resolved in proper legal channels, not amplified through “dramatized narratives” online.
He accused Senator Natasha of attempting to sway public opinion rather than presenting her evidence in court.
The statement also referenced what it described as her earlier pattern of online agitation during her six-month Senate suspension a disciplinary sanction she completed fully despite questioning its legitimacy on social media.
Akpabio urged her to allow her legal team handle the case and to present any claims before the court rather than relying on emotional or sensational commentary.
He stressed that legal procedures depend on facts, evidence, and due process, not online reactions.
