BREAKING: Trump Mulls Military Action as Iran Protests Turn Deadly

Share this:

United States President Donald Trump is considering a range of military and non-military options in response to deadly anti-government protests in Iran, according to two US officials familiar with the discussions.

Diaspora Digital Media gathered that Trump has been briefed in recent days on several possible courses of action following reports of escalating violence by Iranian security forces against protesters.

While no final decision has been taken, the president is said to be seriously weighing intervention as the death toll continues to rise across the country.

Some of the options presented to Trump focus on targeting Iran’s security services, which are being used to suppress the demonstrations.

However, officials noted that alternatives not involving direct US military action are also under consideration.

Senior figures within the administration have expressed concern that military strikes could have unintended consequences.

According to the officials, there are fears that US action could undermine the protest movement by allowing Iranian authorities to rally public support against what they would portray as foreign aggression.

There are also concerns that Iran could retaliate militarily, potentially widening the conflict.

Protests erupted across Iran nearly two weeks ago following the collapse of the national currency and have since spread to all 31 provinces.

The US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports that at least 116 people have been killed since the demonstrations began, though the true number may be higher due to widespread internet shutdowns and restrictions on communication.

Trump has publicly voiced support for the protesters. In a post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, he said the United States was ready to assist Iranians in their pursuit of freedom.

He has also warned that Washington would “get involved” if Iranian authorities resort to widespread lethal force against civilians, while stressing that such involvement would not include deploying ground troops.

A senior White House official said any potential action under consideration would avoid “boots on the ground” but could involve other forms of pressure intended to hurt the Iranian regime.

The situation has also drawn the attention of US allies. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held discussions on Saturday focused on the unrest in Iran, as well as developments in Syria and Gaza.

The Israel Defense Forces said it is closely monitoring the situation and has increased its defensive readiness as protests enter their third week.

Netanyahu is expected to convene a security meeting to review developments in Iran and the broader region, according to an Israeli source.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has strongly condemned the protests, accusing demonstrators of acting on behalf of the United States. In a televised address, he dismissed the protesters as vandals and warned that the government would not bow to external pressure.

As the crisis deepens, international attention remains focused on whether the United States will move beyond rhetoric to concrete action, a decision that could have far-reaching implications for Iran and the wider Middle East.

DDM will continue to monitor situations as event unfolds.
