Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is set to officially join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), according to an announcement from the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
The move will take place on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residence in Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Kano, where he is expected to formally register with the party by noon.
Following the announcement, members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement across the country have been urged to also join the ADC in their respective wards, local governments, and states.
The movement’s spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, explained that the decision was made in the interest of strengthening democracy and promoting better leadership. He noted that the group remains focused on improving governance and ensuring that the people’s voices are properly represented.
According to him, the move reflects the collective will of the people and the movement’s commitment to democratic values.
He also emphasized that protecting democracy and respecting the wishes of citizens remain top priorities.
Kwankwaso, who has a strong support base, especially in Kano State, has long been the face of the Kwankwasiyya Movement. His decision to join the ADC is already generating reactions and is expected to reshape parts of Nigeria’s political space.
Members of the movement have also been encouraged not just to register with the ADC, but to actively participate and contribute to the party’s growth at all levels.
While the full impact of this decision is yet to unfold, many believe it could play a significant role in upcoming elections and influence future political alignments in the country.
Dr. Mohammed ended by assuring that the movement remains united and committed to building a better Nigeria, adding that this marks the beginning of a new phase in their political journey.
