ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of a blogger and social media influencer, Justice Chidiebere, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” over allegations of inciting soldiers and spreading information considered capable of misleading the public.

The arrest was carried out as part of what military authorities described as an internal welfare and discipline-related operation aimed at maintaining order within the ranks and preventing misinformation that could affect morale.

According to military sources, the influencer was taken into custody following concerns over content shared on social media platforms, which authorities believe may have encouraged discontent among serving personnel.

The army stated that the allegations involve attempts to influence soldiers through online commentary perceived as sensitive to ongoing internal operations and institutional discipline.

Officials explained that the military takes issues of incitement seriously, particularly when it involves communication that could undermine cohesion, obedience, or operational stability within the armed forces.

The arrest has since generated public discussion, with attention focused on the balance between freedom of expression and national security considerations in the digital space.

Military authorities, however, maintained that the action taken is strictly procedural and based on established regulations guiding conduct and communication involving matters related to the armed forces.

The Nigerian Army added that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as inquiries progress into the nature and intent of the alleged communications.

Security analysts note that the rise of social media influence has increasingly placed public figures and content creators under scrutiny, especially when their content intersects with sensitive national security institutions.

The case also highlights broader concerns around digital misinformation, military discipline, and the regulatory frameworks governing online speech in relation to security operations.

Authorities emphasised that due process will be followed and that the suspect will be treated in accordance with the law while investigations continue.

The development has sparked reactions across social media platforms, with opinions divided between concerns over civil liberties and support for military enforcement of discipline and order.

As the situation unfolds, attention remains on the outcome of the investigation and whether formal charges will be filed based on the findings of military authorities.
