The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rolled out its timetable for the 2026 primary elections, setting May 25 as the date to pick its presidential candidate for the 2027 race.
In a statement by its spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the schedule is designed to ensure a smooth and transparent process, in line with electoral laws.
Activities are already underway. Expression of interest forms have been available since April 1 and will close on May 4. The sale of nomination forms is scheduled to run from May 5 to May 10, with submissions expected between May 11 and May 13.
Screening of aspirants will take place over two days—May 14 and 15—while results will be released on May 17. Any appeals will be handled between May 18 and 19, with the final list of cleared candidates due on May 20.
The party plans to conduct National Assembly and State Assembly primaries on May 21, followed by governorship primaries on May 22. The presidential primary will hold three days later.
A meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee is set for May 26, with a special convention on May 27 to ratify candidates.
On the cost side, the ADC has placed its presidential nomination form at ₦100 million. Governorship aspirants will pay ₦50 million, Senate hopefuls ₦20 million, House of Representatives candidates ₦10 million, and State Assembly aspirants ₦3 million.
The party also announced concessions, offering a 50 percent discount to young aspirants and a 25 percent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.
The ADC urged members and aspirants to stick strictly to the timetable, saying it is committed to providing a credible platform as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace.
