The judge also ruled that the surety must be a federal civil servant on at least Grade Level 17. In addition, the person must provide evidence of salary payments covering the last three months, backed by a letter from a bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.
Other conditions include submitting an affidavit of means, signing a bail bond, and providing a recent passport photograph.
The court further ordered El-Rufai to surrender all valid international passports to the court registry while the case continues.
Justice Abdulmalik also directed the former governor to report to the headquarters of the Department of State Services every last Friday of the month by 10 a.m. to sign an attendance register until the matter is concluded.
As part of the requirements, the surety must also provide a tax clearance certificate for the last six months and submit a verification letter from their department at work.
The judge warned that failure to comply with any of the conditions would lead to an automatic cancellation of the bail.
The court additionally ordered El-Rufai to submit a letter of attestation from the chairman of the Kaduna Traditional Council.
