Celebrities React as Yvonne Jegede Condemns Killing of Oyo Teacher

Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has expressed concern over the rising wave of violence in Nigeria following the killing of a mathematics teacher in Oyo State.

The victim, identified as Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly attacked and killed by suspected terrorists, sparking outrage and conversations across social media.

Reacting to a video linked to the incident, Jegede took to Instagram to voice her frustration, questioning why only a segment of the population appears to be speaking out when the situation demands collective outrage.

She lamented the increasing frequency of such incidents, describing them as inhumane and troubling. According to her, the lack of widespread reaction and fear-driven silence among citizens is equally alarming.

The actress stressed that the situation should concern every Nigerian, warning that the violence could escalate further if not addressed. She also pointed out the country’s inadequate emergency response systems and healthcare infrastructure, saying the environment makes such tragedies even more devastating.

Her comments add to a growing list of reactions from public figures and entertainers.

Popular personality Bobrisky criticised what he described as misplaced priorities among Nigerians, noting that serious national issues are often overshadowed by less important conversations.

Actress Ruth Kadiri also weighed in, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently address the security crisis or allow citizens to defend themselves.

Singer Ebuka Songs questioned the government’s focus, expressing disappointment over ongoing promotional activities amid daily reports of killings.

Actor Bolanle Ninalowo stated that he could not remain silent in the face of such tragedies, emphasizing his stance as a voice for the people rather than for any political interest.

Similarly, Kunle Remi described the incident as heartbreaking, expressing hope that national leaders would begin to fully grasp the weight of the challenges faced by citizens.

Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike also shared his concerns, calling for a better Nigeria while criticising the country’s leadership.
