KANO, NIGERIA — The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismissed five volunteer personnel over allegations of gross indiscipline and unethical conduct, reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and discipline within the security agency.

The dismissal was announced by the state command following the conclusion of internal disciplinary procedures that found the affected personnel guilty of actions deemed inconsistent with the values, regulations, and operational standards of the corps.

According to the command, the decision was taken after thorough investigations into complaints and reports concerning the conduct of the volunteers. Authorities said the findings revealed violations of established rules governing the activities of volunteer personnel attached to the organisation.

While specific details of the offences were not immediately disclosed, NSCDC officials described the conduct of the dismissed individuals as serious breaches capable of undermining the integrity and reputation of the corps.

Security analysts have observed that disciplinary measures within law enforcement agencies are essential for maintaining public confidence and ensuring effective service delivery. According to experts, prompt action against misconduct helps reinforce institutional credibility and demonstrates a commitment to transparency and accountability.

The dismissal also comes amid broader efforts by security agencies across Nigeria to improve professionalism and strengthen public trust through reforms, training programmes, and stricter enforcement of internal regulations.

Residents and community leaders in Kano State have repeatedly called on security agencies to uphold discipline among personnel, arguing that public cooperation is easier to achieve when officers demonstrate integrity and respect for the rule of law.

Officials further encouraged members of the public to continue reporting cases of misconduct involving security personnel through appropriate channels, assuring that all complaints would be investigated and addressed accordingly.
