ILORIN, KWARA STATE — The Kwara State Government has announced the commencement of free online registration for the 2026 secondary school placement examination, aimed at easing access for primary school pupils transitioning into secondary education across the state.
According to the announcement, Primary 6 pupils are eligible to register for the examination through their respective schools, as part of efforts to ensure an organised and inclusive placement process for all candidates.
Education authorities in the state said the initiative is designed to remove financial barriers that may prevent pupils from participating in the examination, while also improving efficiency through a fully digital registration system.
The government explained that the online platform will help streamline data collection, reduce administrative bottlenecks, and ensure that all eligible pupils are properly accounted for ahead of the examination.
Officials noted that the placement examination plays a critical role in determining students’ admission into secondary schools, making it an important milestone in the state’s education system.
The Ministry of Education stated that schools have been directed to assist pupils in completing the registration process, particularly those who may lack direct access to digital tools or internet facilities.
Parents and guardians were also encouraged to support their children during the registration period to ensure timely and accurate submission of required information.
The state government emphasized its commitment to improving education delivery through technology-driven solutions, adding that the move aligns with broader efforts to modernize the education sector and enhance transparency in school placement processes.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing it as a positive step toward reducing stress on parents and improving efficiency in the transition from primary to secondary education.
They also noted that free registration would help promote equal access to educational opportunities, particularly for pupils from low-income households.
The government further assured that adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth registration process across all public and private primary schools in the state.
As preparations continue for the 2026 examination, authorities urged schools to comply fully with registration guidelines and ensure that all eligible pupils are captured within the stipulated timeframe.
