Some Nigerians awaiting evacuation from South Africa have staged a protest at the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria, expressing frustration over delays in repatriation flights back home.

The protest was captured in a video shared by News Central TV on Monday. In the footage, the aggrieved Nigerians are seen demanding immediate action, saying they have waited too long for the evacuation process to be completed.

Chanting “We no go gree o, we wan go,” the protesters called on authorities to speed up arrangements for their return to Nigeria.

The demonstration comes amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to evacuate Nigerians seeking to leave South Africa following renewed anti-immigration tensions and growing concerns over xenophobic attacks.

Earlier reports indicated that hundreds of Nigerians underwent screening at the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria as part of the repatriation programme, while officials worked to finalise flight schedules for returnees.

Although 258 Nigerians have already been flown back home, reports suggest that more than 742 others remain stranded in different parts of South Africa.

Many of those still awaiting evacuation are said to be struggling with hunger, homelessness and worsening living conditions as delays in flight arrangements persist.

The protesters urged the Federal Government to urgently intervene and accelerate the evacuation process, insisting that many stranded citizens can no longer afford to wait.

A video circulating online showed the demonstrators gathered outside the Nigerian mission in Pretoria, voicing their anger and demanding immediate repatriation
