Singer Shoday Sparks Reactions Over Tattoos and Wealth Comments

Share this:

Nigerian singer Shoday has stirred conversations online following his remarks about tattoos and financial status.

The singer, in a statement circulating on social media, revealed that he has chosen not to get a tattoo until he reaches a specific financial milestone, describing it as a personal goal.

“I don’t have a tattoo because I set a money target for myself before getting one,” he said.

Shoday, however, drew backlash after suggesting that individuals who drive cars worth around ₦100 million or still use public transport should not have extensive tattoos, as it reflects a lack of financial stability.

“You’re not supposed to draw tattoos all over your body when you’re still driving a ₦100M car or entering bus… that means you’re still poor,” he added.

The comment has since generated mixed reactions online, with some supporting his viewpoint as a personal standard, while others criticised it as insensitive and unnecessary.

Many users argued that tattoos are a form of self-expression and should not be tied to a person’s financial status, sparking a wider debate about lifestyle choices and societal perceptions of wealth.
