Cleric Craig Omorotionmwan has sparked debate after condemning what he described as irresponsible parenting practices, particularly excessive spending on young children.
In a statement that has circulated widely online, Omorotionmwan criticized parents who invest heavily in luxury clothing and appearances for their primary school-aged children, arguing that such actions send the wrong message about life priorities.
“Some parents are irresponsible money miss road. How can you be spending millions to sew clothes for your primary school children?” he said.
He also expressed concern over what he perceives as a growing culture of misplaced values, pointing to children being allowed to adopt adult-like lifestyles at a young age, including maintaining long artificial nails. According to him, these behaviors reflect deeper issues in value orientation and upbringing.
“You’re obviously teaching them that these are the priorities in life. Parents are busy destroying their children, and some of those children don’t even know what it’s all about,” he added.
His comments have generated mixed reactions, with some agreeing that early exposure to luxury and superficial standards could negatively influence children’s development, while others argued that parents have the right to raise their children according to their personal values and financial capacity.
