A 25 year old lady, Joy Peter Felix has gone missing in Rivers State after she left her home to see a man she met on Tinder dating platform.
Tinder is a popular global geosocial networking and online dating application launched in 2012.
It allows users to match with nearby people by swiping right to “like” or left to “pass”. If two users mutually like each other, it results in a “match” and opens a chat window.
A family source, who doesn’t want to be quoted exclusively told Diaspora Digital Media that Joy left her home around 8pm on the 24th of July to see the alleged lover at Igwuruta area of Rivers State and never returned home.
The family source also told DDM that before Joy left her home to see the alleged lover, she informed her roommate who on that day, was in Owerri to see her family.
In a voice note which was made available to DDM, the roommate whose identity will not be disclosed because of security reasons, was heard warning Joy not to leave their apartment by that time of the night to visit the said lover, but she insisted on seeing the man.
According to the roommate, she promised to return home if she sees anything unusual.
DDM understand that Joy before leaving to meet the said lover, sent the Mobile number of the young man to her roommate. However, the roommate after a couple of hours, chatted the young man, asking her if Joy has arrived, he said no.
The next morning, she reached out to Joy on Whatsapp, asking her if she was safe, but she never responded. Moreover, to her surprise, when she called both the mobile number of Joy and that of the young man, it was completely not available.
The roommate further revealed that the young man also removed his picture on Whatsapp and attempted to delete their chats so as to cover up his tracks.
Also, the brother of Joy, Mr. Felix Peter, told DDM that since the matter was reported to the police, nothing serious has been done to launch a manhunt for the suspect and Joy.
Felix said the police informed him he will bear the financial burden of tracking the mobile number of his sister in order to know her last location.
Meanwhile, Etche and Igwuruta axis of Rivers State are notoriously known for harbouring kidnappers and organ harvesters.
Despite concerted efforts by the State government and security agencies to arrest the unfortunate situation, the criminal elements operating within those areas, have continued in their nefarious activities.
