Aston Villa have completed the signing of highly rated Senegal winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint Germain in a major deadline day move worth a reported £47 million.
The Premier League club confirmed the transfer on Tuesday, September 1, with the 18 year old becoming the latest attacking addition to Unai Emery’s squad as Villa continue an ambitious rebuild following a dramatic summer transfer window.
The reported fee is around £47 million, equivalent to approximately €55 million, making Mbaye one of the most expensive teenage signings of the summer. His arrival also underlines Aston Villa’s determination to invest in young talent capable of becoming a key part of the club’s long term project.
Mbaye arrives at Villa Park after an impressive breakthrough campaign with PSG. The Senegal international made 31 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists as the French giants successfully defended both their Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League titles.
Despite his young age, Mbaye has already accumulated valuable experience at the highest level of European football. He came through the PSG academy before making his senior debut in August 2024 at just 16 years old.
His rapid development eventually earned him a place in Senegal’s senior national team, having previously represented France at youth level. Mbaye switched his international allegiance to Senegal in 2025 and has since established himself as one of the country’s most exciting young attacking players.
The teenager further enhanced his reputation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he featured in all four of Senegal’s matches.
Mbaye scored against France during the tournament, becoming the youngest African player to score in a men’s World Cup. The achievement further demonstrated his ability to perform on a major international stage despite his limited experience.
The winger has already earned 15 senior caps for Senegal since making his international debut, an impressive figure for a player who only recently celebrated his 18th birthday.
At club level, Mbaye primarily operates from the right side of the attack, where his pace, direct running and ability to create opportunities make him an attractive addition to Emery’s attacking system.
His move to Aston Villa also comes at the end of a major period of change at the club.

Emery has responded by bringing in a series of new players, including Alejandro Garnacho, Aaron Wan Bissaka, Johan Manzambi, Zion Suzuki, Joao Gomes, Leon Goretzka, Matteo Ruggeri and Nicolas Jackson. Mbaye now becomes another major piece of Villa’s rebuilding project.
The transfer was completed shortly after Mbaye watched Villa’s Premier League match against Arsenal from the stands at Villa Park on Monday night.
Although Villa suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mikel Arteta’s side, Mbaye was able to witness his new teammates in action before officially completing his move the following day.
His arrival gives Emery another young and versatile attacking option as Aston Villa prepare for a demanding campaign domestically and in European competition.
Villa supporters will now be eager to see how quickly Mbaye adapts to English football. Expectations will inevitably be high because of the size of the transfer fee, but the club appears to view the teenager as a long term investment rather than simply an immediate solution.
For PSG, meanwhile, the departure represents the end of an important chapter in Mbaye’s development. The French champions have allowed one of their academy graduates to leave after he established himself in the first team and contributed to their continued success in domestic and European competition.
For Aston Villa, the deal is another statement of intent.
