Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has purchased a five-bedroom villa for his family in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, strengthening his connection with the Middle East through a luxury residential development associated with his club.

The Norwegian international was announced as a homeowner at Manchester City Yas Residences by Ohana during the launch of the project’s second phase at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Monday, October 12, 2026.

The development’s owner, Ohana Development, confirmed the acquisition in an announcement published on its official website, describing Haaland’s property as a five-bedroom villa intended for his family.

The 26-year-old forward revealed the news through a video message played at the launch event, where he also disclosed that his father, former Manchester City player Alfie Haaland, had purchased a property within the same development.

“We will be neighbours in Abu Dhabi. I just got a house and so did my father,” Haaland said in the video message.

Alfie attended the event in person and collected the keys to his own property, according to reports from the launch.

Although the developer confirmed Haaland’s purchase, it has not disclosed the amount he paid for the villa. Property information reported by Mansion Global puts the average price of five-bedroom villas in the development at approximately AED 10.7 million, equivalent to about $2.9 million. However, that figure is an average for properties of that type and should not be treated as the confirmed purchase price of Haaland’s home.

The project, known as Manchester City Yas Residences by Ohana, is being developed along Yas Canal, close to Yas Island, one of Abu Dhabi’s prominent entertainment and leisure destinations.

Spanning approximately 1.67 million square metres, the planned residential community is expected to contain more than 2,000 homes, including townhouses, duplex villas and larger family residences. Construction is ongoing, with delivery scheduled in phases by 2029.

The second phase will include two-bedroom and three-bedroom townhouses, duplex villas, and four-bedroom and five-bedroom villas. Sales for the phase are scheduled to begin on October 19, according to the developer.

Beyond residential accommodation, the project is designed to incorporate Manchester City branding and sporting facilities, including football pitches, a training academy and recreational spaces. Plans also include facilities for other sports, fitness activities and outdoor leisure.

The development reflects the commercial relationship between Manchester City and the Abu Dhabi market, where the club has an established connection through its ownership structure and wider business interests.

Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola attended the launch as the project’s guest of honour and was announced as its official brand ambassador. His appearance added further prominence to an event built around the club’s identity and its expansion into the residential property market.

For Haaland, the purchase adds an Abu Dhabi property to a portfolio that reportedly already includes homes in England, Norway and Spain. However, the announcement does not establish whether the striker intends to use the new villa as a permanent residence or primarily as a family retreat when visiting the UAE.

The purchase also brings a family connection into the development, with Haaland and his father acquiring properties in the same community. Their decision to become neighbours was highlighted in the striker’s video message at the launch.

Haaland remains one of Manchester City’s leading players, known for his prolific goalscoring since joining the club. His property purchase is separate from his football commitments but underlines how prominent players can become associated with commercial ventures beyond the pitch.

With more than 2,000 residences planned and sporting amenities built around Manchester City’s brand, the development is positioning itself as a lifestyle destination for football supporters and property buyers seeking luxury accommodation in Abu Dhabi.

While the exact details of Haaland’s purchase remain private, the developer’s announcement confirms that the striker and his father have secured homes in the project, adding another high-profile name to the growing residential development on Yas Island.
