Dele Momodu urges Tinubu to embrace humility and democracy ahead of 2027 election

Prominent Nigerian publisher and former PDP presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to uphold democratic principles and place his trust in divine guidance as he contemplates running for the 2027 presidential election.

In an interview with Arise TV, Momodu reflected on Tinubu’s remarkable political journey and the resilience that has characterized his rise, Diaspora digital media (DDM) reports.

Momodu reminisced about Tinubu’s early political struggles under the Obasanjo administration, where the president emerged as a prominent figure.

“I remember under President Obasanjo, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged as a star,” he said.

“He became a star because he fought tirelessly against that administration. He stood firm, spoke out, and earned widespread support.

“That determination is what propelled him to his current position.”

Advising President Tinubu, Momodu emphasized the importance of humility and faith.

He encouraged Tinubu to acknowledge that his rise to power was not just due to his efforts but also the will of God.

“He should leave everything to God,” Momodu said.

“President Tinubu has accomplished what great leaders like Chief Moshood Abiola, Shehu Musa Yar’adua, and Chief Olu Falae could not achieve.

“It is God who granted him this power, and he must not forget that.”

Momodu also stressed the importance of democracy in the political process, urging Tinubu to foster an environment that allows for healthy competition and participation from all political parties.

He remarked, “Power comes from God. Let others breathe and participate.

“Personally, I have no issue with anyone serving four or eight years, but we must ensure that democracy thrives. It is crucial.”

This, he believes, is essential for the health of Nigeria’s political system moving forward.

In light of the 2027 election, Momodu’s comments come amid growing concerns within the opposition about the ruling APC’s efforts to destabilize rivals.

The Labour Party continues to grapple with internal leadership disputes, while the PDP faces its own internal divisions as it seeks to unite its factions for a strong challenge against the APC.

Momodu’s call to President Tinubu to remain steadfast in his faith and to prioritize democratic values offers a timely reminder of the principles that should guide Nigeria’s future political landscape.
