Chelsea made key moves on transfer deadline day by recalling two of their players from loan spells.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) revailed the club announcement on Monday that forward David Fofana and defender Caleb Wiley had been brought back as part of their squad adjustments for the remainder of the season.

Fofana, an Ivorian striker, had been on loan at Turkish side Göztepe S.K., while Wiley, a promising young defender, had been gaining experience at Chelsea’s partner club, Strasbourg.

The decision to recall both players reflects Chelsea’s strategic approach to squad depth, especially under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea’s loan strategy and transfer history

While Fofana is set to stay with Chelsea, Caleb Wiley will not be heading back to Stamford Bridge just yet.

Instead, the American defender has been sent to Championship side Watford, where he is expected to gain more first-team experience.
