Doctors Against Genocide visited the United States Senate to demand an end to the U.S.-Israeli genocide in Palestine.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that the medical professionals urged an immediate halt to President Donald Trump’s threats to deploy the military for a permanent occupation of Gaza.

Gaza faces a humanitarian crisis as the healthcare system collapses under relentless Israeli bombardment and a severe blockade.

The situation is a medical emergency, with hospitals struggling to function due to shortages of medicine, staff, and essential supplies.

Doctors warned that displacement, starvation, and continuous attacks are worsening the suffering of the Palestinian population in Gaza.

Karameh Kuemmerle, co-founder of Doctors Against Genocide, condemned the forced removal of Palestinians from their homes and communities.

She described the situation as catastrophic and denounced Trump’s proposal to forcibly relocate Palestinians as an atrocious act.

Doctors Against Genocide called on the U.S. government to take immediate action to prevent further human rights violations in Gaza.

Medical professionals across the country urged the Senate to restore funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

UNRWA provides essential services, including primary healthcare, education, and sanitation, to millions of Palestinian refugees.

President Joe Biden withdrew funding from UNRWA in January 2024, intensifying the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the West Bank.

Donald Trump extended the funding freeze until at least March 1, further exacerbating conditions for displaced Palestinian families.

Doctors warned that eliminating UNRWA would worsen the genocide by increasing mortality and disease among vulnerable Palestinian populations.

Kuemmerle emphasized that removing UNRWA would escalate death rates and deepen the suffering of those already affected by war.

The group highlighted the hypocrisy of Western medical institutions that condemned Russian attacks on Ukrainian healthcare facilities.

Many medical organizations severed ties with Russian counterparts over attacks on hospitals but remain silent on Gaza’s destruction.

After 16 months of Israeli bombardment, the silence from global medical institutions on Gaza’s suffering remains deafening.

Adlah Sukkar of Doctors Against Genocide criticized the politicization of humanitarian crises, calling for a consistent moral stance.

She stated that condemning the bombing of hospitals should not be controversial or subject to political interests.

At least 80% of Gaza’s healthcare system has been destroyed by continuous Israeli airstrikes and military operations.

Less than half of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are partially functional, with most struggling to handle an overwhelming number of casualties.

Thousands of injured civilians, primarily women and children, receive inadequate treatment due to the destruction of medical infrastructure.

Doctors described the targeted destruction of hospitals and healthcare centers as a central aspect of the genocide in Gaza.

They condemned Israel’s deliberate attacks on ambulances, clinics, and health workers, which violate international humanitarian laws.

Medical professionals warned that the ongoing genocide will have long-term consequences for Palestinian public health and survival.

The blockade has severely restricted access to food, clean water, and medical aid, pushing Gaza to the brink of collapse.

Doctors Against Genocide urged the U.S. Senate to stop supporting military actions that contribute to the genocide in Gaza.

The organization called for the U.S. to enforce accountability and push for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further atrocities.

Medical professionals emphasized that healthcare should remain neutral and protected, even in times of war and conflict.

They insisted that bombing hospitals and targeting medical workers must be universally condemned, regardless of political affiliations.

Doctors Against Genocide vowed to continue pressuring lawmakers until decisive action is taken to end the genocide in Gaza.

The group demanded that the international community uphold humanitarian laws and protect the rights of Palestinian civilians.

The devastation in Gaza serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of unchecked military aggression and forced displacement.

Medical professionals worldwide must break their silence and take a firm stand against the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Doctors Against Genocide reaffirmed their commitment to exposing injustices and advocating for the fundamental rights of Palestinian civilians.

They urged immediate action to prevent further loss of life and to restore dignity to the people of Gaza.
