Ex-Atiku campaign coordinator dumps PDP, declares support for Tinubu
DDM News

A former top campaign official in the North Central zone has officially abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Anngu Orngu, who once served as the North Central Coordinator for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign, made the announcement on Thursday.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that Orngu has now declared open support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing his reform agenda as bold and necessary for Nigeria’s progress.
Orngu praised President Tinubu’s economic and institutional reforms, saying they were not mere political statements but real actions aimed at national transformation.
He described the reforms as painful but essential, insisting that they are laying a foundation for a prosperous and stable Nigeria.
According to him, Tinubu is not afraid to confront decades-old systems that have kept the country poor and dependent.
He pointed to the removal of fuel subsidy as one of the most courageous decisions by the Tinubu administration.
He said the subsidy regime only benefited a few privileged individuals while keeping the majority of Nigerians in hardship.
Orngu noted that although subsidy removal was not a popular decision, it was a necessary sacrifice for national development.
He maintained that Tinubu’s government is doing the hard work of fixing Nigeria’s broken systems.
Orngu, who also served as the Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs to the Governor of Benue State, highlighted signs of fiscal stability under Tinubu’s leadership.
He claimed that no governor in Nigeria currently borrows money to pay workers’ salaries.
He said this is a clear sign that the country’s public finance is gradually becoming stable.
Orngu urged Nigerians to look beyond short-term discomfort and focus on the long-term benefits of Tinubu’s economic policies.
He did not hold back in criticizing his former principal, Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of engaging in immature political tactics.
He advised Atiku to step aside and stop playing what he described as “juvenile political activism.”
According to Orngu, this is not a time for unnecessary political battles, but for national rebuilding.
He said that anyone who truly loves Nigeria must support Tinubu’s vision and policies.
Orngu also appealed directly to the youth, urging them to stand firmly behind President Tinubu.
He said young Nigerians must support the president to complete the good work he has started.
He stressed that the youth have the most to gain from a stable and reformed Nigeria.
Orngu called for a renewed mandate for President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
He said the president deserves overwhelming support to continue what he has begun.
“The future belongs to us,” he stated.
“And we must support the leader who is laying the groundwork for that future.”
His defection marks another shift in Nigeria’s political dynamics as the 2027 general elections approach.
It also reflects a trend of former opposition figures moving closer to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Orngu’s decision is expected to influence political calculations in the North Central zone and beyond.
