Former Nigerian Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has ignited political discourse with a bold prediction about female leadership in Nigeria.

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, he shared his thoughts via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathers.

He expressed confidence in the political future of Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, the current Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Bianca is the widow of the late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

Murray-Bruce stated that she could become the first female governor of Anambra State.

He further suggested she might become Nigeria’s first elected female governor.

He noted that this historic achievement could happen under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

According to him, Bianca Ojukwu is a woman of immense talent and strong character.

“She served as Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain,” he wrote. “She is highly capable and has proven leadership qualities.”

His remarks have sparked widespread discussions across political and social platforms nationwide.

Though Nigeria has had female deputy governors, no woman has been elected governor in a general election.

Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu is a trained lawyer, diplomat, and former beauty queen.

She is a well-known figure in southeastern Nigeria and a respected public servant.

Her diplomatic experience includes serving as Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain under former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Bianca has remained politically active, especially in Anambra State, where she holds influence.

She is also a key member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), formerly led by her late husband.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) notes that Murray-Bruce’s prediction serves as both endorsement and political provocation.

It challenges long-standing gender norms in Nigeria’s political system.

His comment may encourage more women to seek leadership roles in government.

Although Bianca Ojukwu has not declared any intention to run for governor, her name is now in the spotlight.

Many political analysts are already discussing her chances and the potential impact of her candidacy.

If she enters the race, it would be a major step forward for women in Nigerian politics.

Her candidacy could inspire other women to break political barriers and lead with confidence.

As the next Anambra gubernatorial election draws closer, anticipation is growing.

Supporters believe Bianca has the experience, vision, and popularity to lead successfully.

If elected, she would make history and set a powerful precedent for gender equity in governance.

Murray-Bruce’s prediction, whether fulfilled or not, has already ignited vital national conversations.

It has drawn attention to the urgent need for inclusive leadership in Nigeria.
