DDM News

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ajibola Basiru, has urged leaders to prioritize citizens’ welfare.
He made the call during the Eid-el-Kabir prayers held in Osogbo, Osun State’s capital, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports.
Dr. Basiru said the Eid-el-Kabir celebration is a time for reflection and renewal of leadership responsibility.
He stressed that both leaders and citizens must learn from Prophet Ibrahim’s story of sacrifice and obedience.
According to him, those in positions of authority must emulate the values of service, sacrifice, and dedication.
Speaking after the prayer session, he urged government officials to use their offices to serve the people sincerely.
“We thank God for making it possible to witness this Eid,” Dr. Basiru told journalists in Osogbo.
“This festival reminds us of the meaning of sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim’s actions,” he added.
He called on political leaders across all levels to make people’s welfare the foundation of their governance efforts.
Dr. Basiru emphasized that Nigeria’s challenges can only be addressed through responsible leadership and committed citizenship.
He urged Nigerians to pray for the country and make sacrifices that support peace, unity, and progress.
According to him, citizens and leaders must work together for national development to take root and thrive.
He noted that collective efforts are essential to overcoming the pressing difficulties Nigeria currently faces.
Dr. Basiru also spoke on the need for massive investment in human development across the country.
He said education, healthcare, and infrastructure must be given top priority in national and state budgets.
“These sectors are vital to our survival and long-term development as a country,” he stressed.
He warned that neglecting education and healthcare would weaken Nigeria’s future and slow down growth.
He said sustainable progress can only happen when governments invest in people and critical social infrastructure.
According to him, building human capital is key to economic stability and national prosperity.
He urged the government to go beyond rhetoric and commit to actions that improve daily life for Nigerians.
Dr. Basiru insisted that policies must reflect the needs of the people and not just political ambitions.
He called for inclusive governance that bridges the gap between citizens and their leaders.
During the Eid prayers, hundreds of Muslims gathered in Osogbo to mark the sacred celebration.
The event offered a moment of unity, prayer, and reflection for peace and national stability.
Dr. Basiru said Prophet Ibrahim’s example should inspire everyone to work selflessly for the greater good.
He encouraged both leaders and citizens to renew their commitment to nation-building through sacrifice and responsibility.
He added that genuine leadership demands integrity, compassion, and consistent service to the people.
His remarks echoed the APC’s broader position on welfare-focused and people-oriented governance.
The message reinforced that leadership must be accountable, transparent, and responsive to citizens’ needs.
Dr. Basiru concluded by calling on Nigerians to stay hopeful and work towards a better future.
