Agwa community in Oguta LGA demands N1 billion naira compensation for victims of banditry attacks

The Agwa community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State has demanded N1 billion in compensation for victims of banditry attacks.

According to reports, suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded the community on June 4, 2025, brutally murdering innocent sons and daughters of Agwa, with many sustaining injuries from gunshots and others kidnapped.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen were said to have caused multiple deaths, injuries, and kidnappings

The community is living in fear, with many residents displaced or traumatized

The community demands N1 billion compensation for victims of the attacks
and Immediate establishment of a joint security task force stationed along the Ejemekwuru-Agwa road to prevent further bloodshed and contain criminal elements.

Also, Protection and security for the community to live without fear

The Imo State Police Commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma, has promised to facilitate the community’s complaints to the appropriate quarters.

The Commissioner urged the community to collaborate with security agencies by providing credible information to assist in tackling security issues in their area.

The Agwa community has been subjected to repeated attacks, with many lives lost and property destroyed.

The community leaders argue that the government has failed to provide adequate protection, leading to a breakdown in trust and a sense of desperation among residents .

The demand for N1 billion in compensation is a cry for justice and a call to action for the government to take concrete steps to protect the Agwa community from further attacks.

The situation highlights the need for improved security measures and community engagement to prevent such incidents in the future.
