North Carolina Governor Josh Stein has officially declared June 14, 2025, as “Igbo Day” in the state.

The proclamation recognizes the significant contributions of the Igbo community to North Carolina’s cultural, social, and economic landscape.

The Igbo community has enriched North Carolina’s cultural diversity through their participation in local festivals, performances, and preservation of their heritage.

Igbo individuals have made notable strides in various fields, including education, law, healthcare, technology, entrepreneurship, and the arts.

The community has demonstrated strong civic engagement through volunteer work, supporting local schools, food drives, and women’s shelters.

The nonprofit organisation was formed in 2022 to promote Igbo culture and values through music, language, art, and traditional values.

Governor Stein commended the Igbo community for its efforts to maintain its cultural legacy and inspire future generations to embrace their identity.

“Now, therefore, I, Josh Stein, Governor of the State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim June 14, 2025, as ‘Igbo Day’ in North Carolina and commend its observance to all citizens,” the proclamation reads.
