Iran’s nuclear facilities

(DDM) – Iran’s nuclear facilities suffered extensive damage following a series of coordinated strikes carried out by Israel and the United States.

The attacks were part of a wider military confrontation that began on June 13, escalating tensions in the region and drawing global attention.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that Iranian officials confirmed widespread destruction to key nuclear installations and significant casualties.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated in a televised interview with Al Jazeera that the country’s nuclear infrastructure had been “badly damaged” due to repeated strikes by “Israeli and American aggressors.”

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, also confirmed that several Iranian nuclear sites were “severely damaged” during the 12-day conflict.

Baghaei added that Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization was conducting a full technical assessment of the affected facilities.

In response to the attacks, Iran’s parliament voted to suspend cooperation with the IAEA, although it did not vote to exit the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The decision reflects Tehran’s growing frustration with international nuclear oversight following the airstrikes.

Beyond infrastructure, the conflict has claimed hundreds of lives.

According to Iran’s state media outlet IRIB, at least 627 Iranians were killed between June 13 and June 24, with another 4,870 injured.

Iran’s health ministry reported that 86% of the fatalities occurred instantly at the scene of Israeli strikes, underscoring the intensity and accuracy of the attacks.

Among the high-profile casualties is Major General Ali Shadmani, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters.

Shadmani had only recently assumed the role on June 13, following the death of his predecessor, Lieutenant General Gholam Ali Rashid, in the early wave of Israeli air raids.

Iran also reported the loss of at least 35 Air Defense Force personnel during the course of the strikes.

These casualties were announced by the semi-official Student News Network (SNN), further illustrating the strategic blow dealt to Iran’s military capability.

The U.S. has not released its own casualty or damage assessments, but American intelligence sources indicated that the strikes were aimed at crippling Iran’s nuclear advancement without provoking full-scale war.

Despite the massive destruction, both Iran and Israel have since accepted a ceasefire brokered by European and Gulf intermediaries.

The ceasefire agreement followed warnings from global powers about the risk of a broader Middle East war.

Military analysts say that while the strikes may have set back Iran’s nuclear program by several months, they have also further destabilized an already volatile region.

As the dust settles, international observers remain concerned about what comes next in the fragile power dynamics between Iran, Israel, and their allies.
