Sokoto State has unveiled a transformed Sultan Abubakar International Airport, showcasing a sleek VIP terminal and a freshly reconstructed access road.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu inaugurated the projects, marking a bold leap in modernizing the state’s aviation sector.

The upgrades signal Sokoto’s ambition to become a key economic and transportation hub in northern Nigeria.

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo praised the governor’s vision during Thursday’s commissioning ceremony.

“Sokoto keeps impressing me,” Keyamo remarked, recalling his previous visit to open the Hajj terminal.

He noted how the new projects align perfectly with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for infrastructure development.

As Keyamo toured the site, he marveled at the quality of work.

“This road alone shows Sokoto is positioning itself as Nigeria’s next gateway,” he observed.

The minister emphasized that such projects demonstrate what state governments can achieve with focused leadership.

Governor Aliyu recently revealed that the airport road has suffered years of neglect due to a stalled contract.

Consequently, his administration prioritized its completion, investing ₦1.26 billion to create a world-class thoroughfare for travelers.

Additionally, the adjacent VIP terminal, constructed for ₦1.5 billion, now provides modern comforts and efficiency to all passengers.

“We’re rebuilding Sokoto to compete globally,” Aliyu declared proudly during the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure development.

Moreover, he promised further developments, immediately launching construction on a new terminal to enhance airport capacity significantly.

This upcoming facility will adhere to international standards, further boosting the airport’s capacity and attracting more travelers.

The governor reaffirmed Sokoto’s unwavering support for President Tinubu’s reforms while showcasing the state’s local achievements and progress.

With these upgrades, the state is now prepared to attract business and tourism, marking a new era of growth.

Residents already celebrate the benefits of smoother airport access and modern facilities, eagerly anticipating future improvements and developments.

As construction continues, all eyes remain focused on Sokoto’s upward trajectory, illustrating the potential for regional economic leadership.

Each improvement brings Sokoto closer to its vision of becoming a premier travel hub in the region for all.

Ultimately, these projects demonstrate how targeted infrastructure spending can reshape a state’s economic future and improve citizens’ lives.

Now, Sokoto’s airport stands as a shining example of progress in action, inspiring confidence in the state’s future.
