Just in: Enugu North Backs Ezeah, Leaving Critics Rattled
DDM News

Enugu, Nigeria – Senator Okechukwu Ezeah, representing Enugu North Senatorial Zone, has recently come under intense scrutiny, with sections of the online community questioning his performance in office.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the growing wave of criticism prompted a passionate defense from concerned constituents, including political commentator and public affairs analyst, Onyekachi C. Ugwu JP.
He took to social media to challenge the rising narrative that Senator Ezeah has underperformed.
Ugwu, known for his frank political commentary, admitted that while he may not share the same political platform or always agree with Ezeah’s views, he firmly believes the senator has shown focus and commitment to improving the fortunes of Enugu North within his two years in office.
In a strongly-worded social media post, Ugwu dismissed the attacks on Ezeah as a politically-motivated smear campaign.
He argued that the criticism is being orchestrated by individuals who are shielding a “mystery candidate” they are yet to openly endorse for public appraisal.
He condemned the hypocrisy of those who remained silent while the zone was misgoverned in the past, only to now become vocal critics of a man who, in his view, is delivering on his mandate.
According to Ugwu, many of the critics had “stood hands akimbo” as the region was “ripped apart, raped, defiled, and torn to shreds,” but are now conveniently vocal in the face of visible progress.
He described this attitude as “selective myopia, hyperopia, and even amnesia,” stressing that such selective outrage lacks credibility and historical integrity.
Senator Okechukwu Ezeah, elected in the 2023 general elections under the Labour Party, succeeded a long stretch of PDP dominance in the senatorial zone.
Since assuming office, he has reportedly sponsored multiple bills and championed interventions in road rehabilitation, youth empowerment, and educational development across communities like Nsukka and Uzo Uwani.
Ugwu, quoting a traditional Ewe poem, likened the political tension to a battlefield between truth and deception. He portrayed Senator Ezeah as a “master singer” prepared to defend the people against political forces aiming to derail the region’s development.
“If it’s about remedying the ills that have plagued Enugu North, then we must reject the theatrics of those who failed the zone in the past,” Ugwu wrote.
He emphasized that Senator Ezeah has not failed his people but may have disappointed only those who “have no history to look back to.”
Ugwu also used the opportunity to declare his support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, stating clearly: “I stand with Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and there is no two ways about that.”
Concluding his post, he predicted retaliation from political opponents but remained defiant.
“They will come for me. I am well aware of that,” he wrote. “I have nothing more to lose. Being content is being ready to call their bluff. Yes, that particular bluff.”
The statement has since gone viral, igniting debates across social media platforms about political performance, legacy, and loyalty in Enugu North.
Political observers note that the controversy could signal early maneuverings ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Still, for now, Senator Okey Ezeah appears to enjoy steadfast support from many constituents who believe his work speaks louder than political noise.
