JUST-IN: Anambra PDP Gov’ship Candidate Shot In Abuja

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2025 Anambra election, Chief Jude Ezenwafor, narrowly escaped death after he was shot by unidentified gunmen in Abuja.
According to reports, the attack happened late Friday night around the Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory.
Ezenwafor was returning from a private appointment when he was ambushed and shot multiple times.
Fortunately, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is currently receiving emergency treatment. His media team confirmed that the doctors are preparing to operate on him to remove bullets lodged in his body.
From his hospital bed early Saturday, July 19, Ezenwafor recounted the terrifying moment.
“I’m in pain. Doctors are doing their best to operate and remove the bullets. It was a near-death experience,” he said weakly.
Although no group has claimed responsibility, sources within the PDP campaign team revealed that the matter has been reported to the police. Security agencies are yet to release an official statement, but investigations are ongoing.
Ezenwafor had recently returned to the PDP after a brief stint with the Labour Party, where he once contested for the presidential ticket.
He was confirmed as PDP’s governorship candidate for Anambra State just weeks ago.
Many within the political circle have condemned the attack. Supporters are calling on the federal government and security forces to take immediate action to protect candidates ahead of the 2025 elections.
This incident has raised concerns over the rising political violence ahead of the Anambra polls.
