Two notorious cult groups, the Neo Black Movement, also known as Aye, and the National Association of Airlords, commonly called Eiye Confraternity, Sagamu chapter, have sent letters of apology to the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Adewale Ajayi, and other traditional rulers in the region. The letters, which have gone viral, seek forgiveness and pledge adherence to the country’s laws.

Dated December 22, 2023, the Eiye Confraternity’s letter, titled “Letter of Apology,” signed by the “Supreme Most Eiye Confraternity,” expressed regret for past wrongdoings, promising to cooperate with the community’s rules and regulations to prevent future occurrences. The group appealed for forgiveness, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring peace in Sagamu.

Similarly, the Neo-Black Movement’s letter, dated December 26, conveyed a message of peace, asserting the organization’s commitment to maintaining a peaceful environment in Sagamu. The letter acknowledged the community’s efforts in fostering peaceful coexistence and expressed gratitude for those initiatives.

Sagamu has been grappling with cult-related violence, leading to numerous fatalities, prompting the community’s leadership, along with law enforcement agencies and vigilance groups, to form a task force aimed at curbing the menace. The letters from these cult groups signify an attempt to reconcile with the community and assure residents of their commitment to a peaceful coexistence.
