Airtel donates N2m to quadruplet's parents

Telecom operator, Airtel Nigeria, has committed to donating N2 million to the family of Sodiq Olayode on July 25, 2024, who recently became a parent to quadruplets with his wife, Abiodun.

This donation comes after Nigerians showed overwhelming support by raising over N16 million for the family through online contributions.

Olayode and his wife initially anticipated welcoming a single child but were surprised when they welcomed quadruplets—two boys and two girls.

The unexpected arrival of the four children was a joyful surprise for the couple.

Reacting to the development on X, formerly Twitter, Airtel made a statement in support for the family, saying:

“Hello, #jamysax, when life gives quadruplets, we give #ovajara support! We’re adding N2m because great things come in multiples.”

The Olayode family’s story caught social media attention when Olayode’s colleague, Oyeniran James, shared their challenges on X on July 23, 2024.

This prompted an outpouring of support and donations from the online community.

James, tweeting as @jamysax, disclosed that Olayode recently expressed concern over the quadruplets going through 105 diapers in just six days.

James provided an update on July 25, 2024, mentioning that by 2pm, donations had amounted to N16,265,209.

In addition to financial contributions, he noted that some Nigerians have donated items including diapers, baby essentials, and food, among other goods.

Nigerians react to the donation by Airtel

Nigerians have expressed joyous reactions to the committed donation from Airtel.

The response has been positive and enthusiastic on X space.

Amidst their joy and happiness, they also mentioned that Airtel’s network performance has been inconsistent, prompting them to voice their complaints.
