Anambra Cop Killers Die In Gun Battle With Police

Three of the gun men suspected to have killed two police officers on escort duty in Anambra, recently, are believed to be part of some hoodlums that met with a grim end after engaging officers in a gun battle in Anambra, police have told DDM on Tuesday.

The police officers, attached to Enugu Police Command, were murdered on December 28, 2023, at Uga Community in Aguata Local council Area of Anambra while working as part of a convoy to prominent politician.

The gun men opened fire on the escorts at point blank range as soon as the officers alighted from their vehicle to clear obstruction on the road.

Speaking on the matter, Commissioner of Police in Anambra State Mr. Aderemi Adeoye,  while giving update on his command’s activities before, during, and after the 2023 election season, said that following that incident the police traced the hoodlums to their base in Ogboji and where they opened fire on the police.
Three of them of the suspects where killed while two officers sustained gunshot injuries.

“This happened on December 31, 2023,” explained the commissioner of police.

Adeoye also said that the command made progress after from security beef ups across all the state’s local councils.
Adeoye said the State Police Command arrested 30 suspects for crimes ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, and other crimes in different parts of the state.

He explained that operatives of the command arrested nine suspected armed robbers, 12 suspected kidnappers, six suspected cult members, and three suspected insurgents.

The Police also rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered 40 rounds of ammunition and 11 vehicles from the criminal gangs within the period under review.
