Anambra Guber: Peter Obi Leads Moghalu Campaign Train Through Awka As Prof. Oby Orogbu Commissions Projects In Achalla And Okpuno
DDM News

(DDM) – The Labour Party’s community-to-community campaign movement intensified in Anambra State as its Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, led the Governorship hopeful, Dr. George Moghalu, and his running mate, Hon. Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro, on a major grassroots tour across Awka North and South.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the campaign train visited Achalla, Okpuno, Nibo, Amawbia, and Ifite-Awka, where they were warmly received with chants, dances, and royal blessings from traditional rulers and community leaders.
Among those who received the delegation were His Royal Majesty, Igwe Ositadinma Nwokedi of Achalla, and HRH Eze Ugonwanne, Dr. Sir M.C. Ngene (JP), the Ezeike IV of Nibo, who prayed for peaceful elections and good leadership in Anambra State.
Speaking during the tour, Dr. George Moghalu lamented the deplorable state of infrastructure in Awka North, describing it as a tragic consequence of decades of failed leadership and political neglect.
According to Moghalu, “The roads in Achalla are scandalous. No community deserves this level of abandonment despite huge allocations from the federal government.
Awka North receives over ₦300 million monthly, yet there’s nothing to show for it.”
He urged residents to resist attempts by corrupt politicians to buy their conscience during the election season. “They will soon come with money again to buy your votes,” he said. “Please don’t sell your future for peanuts.
Let’s reject bad leadership and vote for the Labour Party, the only party that truly puts people first.”
In her remarks, Prof. Oby Orogbu, who represents Awka North and South Federal Constituency, decried the total absence of government presence in Achalla and surrounding communities.
She said it was shameful for such a vital area to be left in ruins despite its potential for growth and development.
Highlighting her constituency interventions, Prof. Orogbu listed the reconstruction of classrooms at Community Secondary School, Achalla; renovation of rural health centers; and installation of solar-powered streetlights as part of her effort to uplift her constituents.
She emphasized that the Labour Party stood for genuine service and accountability, not empty promises. “Soon, they will come again asking for your votes.
But what can they point to that they have done for Achalla?” she asked. “Our people deserve better, and that is what the Labour Party represents.”
The campaign team later joined Prof. Orogbu to commission the newly renovated Community Primary School, Okpuno, one of her educational projects aimed at improving learning conditions for children in the area.
The rallies across Mbaukwu, Nibo, Amawbia, and Ifite-Awka witnessed massive crowds, with residents singing solidarity songs and declaring support for Peter Obi, Dr. George Moghalu, and the Labour Party ahead of the upcoming governorship election.
Addressing supporters, Mr. Peter Obi reiterated that leadership must be built on humility, compassion, and service to humanity.
He described Dr. Moghalu as a man of integrity and competence, assuring voters that he would deliver purposeful governance if elected.
“George will work, and his deputy, an educationist, will ensure that our schools and hospitals receive the attention they deserve,” Obi stated.
The visit, which ended in an electrifying rally at Amawbia, strengthened the Labour Party’s grassroots momentum and reinforced its message of hope, transparency, and people-centered governance.
Analysts believe the presence of Peter Obi, coupled with Prof. Orogbu’s visible achievements in education and infrastructure, could significantly boost Labour Party’s chances in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
(DDM) – Investor and public service advocate Ken Pela has stressed that Nigeria’s biggest challenge is not a lack of potential, but a deficit of the will to do what is right.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Pela made the statement after participating in investor meetings, strategy sessions, and a nation-building dialogue with former Vice President Peter Obi at the Reimagining Nigeria Symposium 2025 in Madrid.

He emphasized that national progress requires responsible harnessing of agriculture, the establishment of transparent enterprise, and the consistent practice of integrity across all sectors.

He described these principles as the pillars necessary to construct a “truly new Nigeria,” emphasizing that collective action, ethical leadership, and societal commitment are indispensable.
Pela also commended the efforts of Isiodu Kosieme Georges and the symposium’s organizing team for creating a platform that fostered dialogue on governance, economic reform, and citizen participation.
