(DDM) — A disturbing tragedy has struck Anambra State following the reported killing of an innocent girl by operatives of a state-backed security outfit.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the victim, whose identity is yet to be officially released, was allegedly shot dead this afternoon by members of the “Udo Ga Achi” security group while she was resting in her bedroom.

The incident occurred in a yet-to-be-confirmed community in Anambra State and has sparked outrage among residents and on social media platforms.

Eyewitnesses and community sources allege that the girl was not involved in any altercation or criminal activity at the time of the shooting.

According to early reports, she was inside her room when a bullet believed to have been fired by the operatives struck and killed her.

The girl’s tragic death has reignited growing concerns about the conduct of the “Udo Ga Achi” group, a controversial security unit established under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

Critics have repeatedly questioned the professionalism and accountability of the outfit, accusing it of excesses and extrajudicial actions in the name of state security.

Activists and concerned citizens have taken to various platforms demanding justice for the deceased and accountability from the state government.

“Anambra is bleeding. This harvest of blood must end,” one Twitter user wrote in a viral post.

Local human rights organizations are also calling for an independent investigation into the killing and urging the state government to place immediate sanctions on the operatives involved.

There is growing pressure on Governor Soludo to issue a public statement and address the perceived escalation of human rights abuses under his security architecture.

Legal experts say if confirmed, the shooting may amount to a gross violation of the right to life as enshrined in Nigeria’s Constitution and international human rights treaties.

DDM notes that this is not the first time the “Udo Ga Achi” group has come under scrutiny for alleged use of lethal force against civilians.

The people of Anambra are now asking if the very security structure meant to protect them is turning into a threat to their lives.

Family members of the deceased are said to be in shock, and local leaders have called for calm while investigations are carried out.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Anambra State Government nor the security outfit had issued an official statement.

Calls for justice continue to mount as residents brace for protests and civil actions in the days ahead.

This latest incident could deepen mistrust between the state’s security bodies and the public they are meant to serve.

DDM will continue to monitor this developing story.
