A United States anti-Trump man, Anthony Nephew, has killed himself, ex-wife and two children after Donald Trump’s victory in the November 5 election.
According to a report related by authorities to the New York post on Sunday, the 46-year-old Anthony took his life and that of his family to express his anger over Trump’s victory.
The Duluth Police Chief, Mike Ceynowa reported on Friday, a day after five people were found dead inside two homes in the city, that Anthony had a kind of mental illness.
According to the report by the Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), police on November 7, reported that Nephew’s ex-partner, Erin Abramson, and their son, Jacob Nephew were found in a pool of blood, after being shot.
The police after identifying the anti-Trump man as a suspect, found his wife and son laid dead from gunshot wound in their nearby family house in Minnesota.
Earlier in July, Anthony had shared on his Facebook page, post about the left-wing and his stand as an anti-Trump, stating “my mental health and the world can no longer co-exist peacefully, and religion is the major reason.”
He further wrote “the thought of religious fanatics forcing their misguided ideologies on me and my loved ones fills me with dread. I’m haunted by vivid, disturbing images of being burned at the stake or crucified.
“People thinking my child or I are evil, like Satan or the Antichrist, is horrifying, Anthony stated.”
He wrote, “Gilead here we come,” referencing The Handmaid’s Tale, a dystopian novel where women’s rights are stripped away.
Anthony in one of his posts, accused the Republicans of depriving women of their rights to leave abusive relationship.
Besides, Anthony Nephew also shared other political posts, including an image of former President Barack Obama, Trump, President Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Under the post, Anthony wrote the word “hate” under Trump’s face, while the words “hope,” “heal,” and “grow” was written under the Democratic politicians.
“I’m calling on both parties to step up their game and give us exceptional candidates. We should be able to choose from more than just fascism or anti-fascism – let’s aim higher,” Anthony said in one of his posts posted in July.
Nephew, in a 2021 op-ed for the Duluth News TRIBUNE had previously sounded the alarm about his struggles with mental health, where he wrote, “For millions of Americans, a breakdown leads to suicide or homicide before suicide.”
He wrote “mental health in this country is shamefully stigmatized, frequently ignored, and often viewed as a personal burden with inadequate support and understanding.
“Many Americans hide their mental health struggles due to societal pressure, lack of awareness, or feeling forced to conceal their issues.”
According to the report by PUNCH, Police in Duluth, approximately 135 miles north of Minneapolis, continue to investigate the shootings but have not determined a motive.
As at the time of this report, there is no ongoing threat to the community.
