As seen in the video, President Buhari had opened the birdcage at the National Arcade and thrown one of the birds into the air but the bird soon returned to the cage.
The president then opened the roof of the cage hoping that all the birds will fly for it but the recalcitrant birds just sat on top of the roof of the cage.
Frustrated, Buhari abandoned the birds and returned to his seat. Surprisingly, as soon as he left, some of the birds flew.
Releasing white birds at events like funerals or memorials is a long-held tradition signifying the life of a departed loved ones and also signifies peace.
