Bandits Kill Two, Abduct Several Others Kwara

The Eruku community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State suffered another violent attack on Tuesday evening as armed bandits killed two residents and abducted several others.

Eyewitnesses said that the attackers stormed the community “suddenly and heavily armed,” forcing residents to flee into surrounding bushes.

“They came around nightfall and started shooting.

Two people were killed instantly, and we don’t even know how many were taken,” a resident said.

Another resident said Eruku has been under sustained assault for three weeks. According to him, bandits have launched multiple attacks despite repeated distress calls to authorities.

“We have begged the local and state governments for help, but nothing concrete has come. We live in fear every day,” he said.

Community members say security outfits  including the police, local vigilantes, and the Eruku Progressive Union have mounted resistance in recent weeks. However, the latest attack has intensified concerns that insecurity in the area is worsening.

An elder in the community appealed directly to the President to intervene urgently.

“We need federal help. These attacks are becoming too much for us to bear,” he said.
