YOLA, ADAMAWA STATE — The Basic Education Group (BEG) has called for deeper collaboration with the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board to strengthen access, quality, and delivery of basic education across communities in Adamawa State.
The call was made during an education-focused engagement aimed at reviewing existing challenges and exploring practical solutions to improve learning outcomes in public primary and junior secondary schools.
BEG noted that sustained partnership with the state education board would help address gaps in infrastructure, teacher development, and learning materials across the state.
The group emphasized that strengthening basic education remains essential to building a solid foundation for long-term human capital development.
Education stakeholders at the meeting reportedly highlighted persistent challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, inadequate teaching staff, and limited instructional resources in some rural areas.
They stressed that targeted investment and coordinated planning between government agencies and civil society organizations could significantly improve performance in the sector.
Officials from ADSUBEB reportedly welcomed the proposal, describing collaboration with development-focused groups as important in complementing government efforts.
They also reaffirmed commitment to ongoing reforms aimed at improving school enrolment, retention, and teaching standards across Adamawa State.
Education experts say partnerships between government institutions and advocacy groups can help improve monitoring systems and ensure more effective use of education funds.
They further noted that community involvement plays a key role in sustaining improvements in basic education delivery, especially in underserved areas.
BEG also advocated for increased attention to teacher training and capacity-building programmes to improve classroom effectiveness and student outcomes.
The group urged stakeholders to prioritize long-term strategies that focus not only on access but also on quality learning outcomes for pupils.
As discussions continue, attention remains focused on how both parties will translate commitments into actionable programmes that can strengthen basic education across Adamawa State.
