Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader, celebrated Eid in Magira, Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that he organized a grand feast attended by fellow bandits from neighboring Zamfara State before launching a brutal attack.
After the celebration, Turji and his gang moved to Fadamar Lugu, where they killed 12 people and injured one.
The attack occurred on Tuesday and was revealed by security analyst Bakatsine in a post on X on Wednesday.
Bakatsine stated that Turji and his men gathered in Magira for the Eid feast before unleashing terror in Fadamar Lugu.
“Bandit leader Bello Turji hosted an Eid celebration in Magira, Isa LGA, with bandits from Zamfara State,” Bakatsine wrote.
“After the feast, he moved to Fadamar Lugu in Isa LGA, Sokoto State, killing 12 people and injuring one.”
Bello Turji is one of Nigeria’s most wanted criminals, responsible for multiple killings, kidnappings, and attacks in the region.
His gang has terrorized local communities, causing widespread fear and displacement in Sokoto and Zamfara States.
Originally from Zamfara State, Turji rose to prominence as a ruthless bandit leader known for violent operations in the Northwest.
He commands a heavily armed gang that has ambushed security forces, destroyed villages, and imposed illegal taxes on locals.
His criminal activities have forced many residents to flee their homes due to constant threats and extortion.
Despite efforts by security forces to capture him, Turji remains elusive, operating from remote hideouts in the forests.
The Nigerian government has declared him wanted, linking him to numerous massacres, abductions, and deadly raids.
His name is associated with some of the worst atrocities committed by criminal groups in northern Nigeria.
The latest attack in Sokoto highlights the ongoing security crisis and the growing threat of banditry in the region.
Residents of affected communities continue to call for urgent government intervention to curb the escalating violence.
Many villages remain vulnerable, with security forces struggling to contain the activities of armed groups.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the recent killings in Fadamar Lugu.
Security agencies are expected to intensify operations in an effort to track down Turji and his gang.
The Sokoto attack underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect communities from further assaults.
Nigeria’s northern states have witnessed a surge in violent crimes, including mass abductions and deadly ambushes.
Banditry has disrupted economic activities, education, and agricultural production, worsening poverty and instability in the region.
Many kidnapped victims remain in captivity, as criminals demand huge ransoms from families and communities.
Turji and his gang operate with sophisticated weapons, making it difficult for security forces to neutralize them.
The government has launched several military operations to dismantle bandit camps, but attacks persist in many areas.
Security analysts warn that unless decisive action is taken, criminal groups will continue to grow stronger.
The Nigerian military has conducted airstrikes on suspected bandit hideouts, yet Turji and his associates remain active.
Residents are urging the government to deploy more troops and improve intelligence gathering to counter banditry.
Many displaced persons struggle to survive in overcrowded camps, lacking basic amenities and protection.
Local leaders have called for collaboration between security agencies and communities to address the worsening crisis.
Without sustained efforts, the cycle of violence will likely continue, causing more deaths and suffering.
The Sokoto massacre adds to the long list of atrocities committed by Turji and his criminal network.
Nigerians await stronger government action to restore peace and security in bandit-infested regions.
