Breaking: Ex-Gov Kalu visits Nnamdi Kanu in Prison, seeks his release

Former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu has visited the embattled leader of Independent People of Biafra [IPOB], Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Kuje Prison where he is held by the federal government.

Shortly after the visit, Chief Kalu spoke to newsmen explaining the purpose of the visit.

He said that his cherished concern is to see Nnamdi Kanu regain his freedom like every other Nigerian.

Thereafter, he wrote on his Facebook wall: “Today, I visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Kuje Prison and we engaged in a very long discussion.

“Kanu is my brother and a son of the soil. He shouldn’t be where he is because Kuje Prison is not his home.

“It is therefore my utmost concern to see him regain his freedom like every other Nigerian.”

It could be recalled that Chief Kalu recently abandoned his party, the All Nigeria Peoples Party [ANPP] and defected to the ruling All progressives Congress [APC].

Following today’s meeting with Nnamdi Kanu, pundits are speculating that Kalu is already pulling his APC strings to pull him out of the dungeon.

This, according to a source who spoke to Elombah.com in anonymity, is to clear the air for APC in the South eastern region where it has little stronghold.

The source claimed that the move will first and foremost clear way for APC in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election coming up in 2017.

Further, it will also enhance the ruling party’s chances in the general elections due to hold in 2019.

In the meantime, Nnamdi Kanu is being prosecuted by Nigerian government on charges bordering on treason and incitement against the federal government.
