China hiding information on Covid – WHO

Microscopic view of the Covid virus

As the world continues to recover from the devastating consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) remains determined to unravel the mysteries surrounding the origins of the virus.

At the center of this inquiry is China, the country where the first cases of COVID-19 were reported in December 2019.

Despite the passage of time, many questions remain unanswered about the earliest cases of COVID-19, the extent of human-to-human transmission, and the Chinese government’s response to the outbreak.

The WHO has been working closely with Chinese authorities to gather more information, but the organization’s efforts have been hindered by a lack of transparency and timely reporting from China.

According to reports, the first cases of COVID-19 were detected in Wuhan, China, in mid-December 2019. However, it wasn’t until December 31, 2019, that Chinese authorities reported a cluster of pneumonia cases of unknown cause to the WHO.

By mid-January 2020, Chinese scientists had identified a new coronavirus as the cause of the outbreak, and by January 20, 2020, the WHO had declared the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).

The WHO’s concerns about China’s handling of the outbreak are not unfounded.

In the early days of the pandemic, Chinese authorities were criticized for their slow response to the outbreak, which allowed the virus to spread rapidly throughout the country.

The government’s efforts to control the spread of information about the outbreak have also raised concerns about censorship and the suppression of dissenting voices.

For example, Dr. Li Wenliang, a Chinese ophthalmologist who was one of the first to sound the alarm about the outbreak, was reprimanded by Chinese authorities for “spreading false information.”

Dr. Li later died of COVID-19, sparking widespread outrage and grief across China.

Diaspora Digital Media understands that WHO is pressing China for more information about the origins of COVID-19, the organization’s investigators are facing a daunting task.

The Chinese government has, however, been reluctant to share data on the earliest cases of the virus, and the country’s strict controls on information have made it difficult for investigators to gather accurate and timely information.

In July 2020, the WHO sent a team of investigators to China to gather more information about the origins of COVID-19.

The team, which included experts from the WHO, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CCDC), spent two weeks in China gathering data and conducting interviews with Chinese scientists and health officials.

However, the team’s findings were met with skepticism by some experts, who questioned the thoroughness of the investigation and the accuracy of the data provided by Chinese authorities.

The WHO has since announced plans to conduct a second phase of the investigation, which will include a more detailed analysis of the earliest cases of COVID-19 and the role of animal hosts in the transmission of the virus.
