December 31st, 2024, the people of Ibeno Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, Southern Nigeria, were hosted to Christmas and New Year celebrations by a chieftain of the country’s ruling political party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Eunice Thomas.

The gathering which included indigenes and non-indigenes in the area was to spread joy and happiness in the spirit of the season.

Speaking, Dr. Eunice Thomas said the event was to bond deeper with the people and to thank them across party divide and ethnic nationalities for their love and support to her family over the years.

She reminded them that her proof of sincerity lies in the fact that she does not celebrate with them only at Christmas but at regular intervals, every year.

The NNPCL Non Executive Director showered encomiums on Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio and his wife, Ekaete Unoma for their time-tested love for Akwa Ibom State and her people, and for their progressive leadership style.

“Their leadership inspires, grows and uplifts followers,” said Dr. Thomas.

She advised followers to walk on the path of loyalty when they have identified a worthy cause to follow and not be weary because the reward will eventually come no matter how long it tarries.

She used the occasion to drum up support for the Tinubu administration and saluted the president’s courage in embarking on bold reforms.

She said the reforms undertaken by the president, though temporary inconveniencing, will eventually get Nigeria out of the woods.

The party is fully aware of your efforts, and the leadership is impressed. Today is yet another confirmation of the impact you have made within the party and beyond. It clearly shows that you are a grassroots leader, and your people truly love you.”

He commended the Senate President Akpabio for facilitating appointments of Obolo indigenes into high federal positions and urged all to continue trusting in the leadership of the former governor as more people will be rewarded.

Present at the event were the APC Chapter Chairman, Emmanuel Okon Effiong; the pioneer APC Chapter Chairman in the area, Emmanuel Nkaka; the Woman Leader; Youth Leaders; former Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councillorship candidates of the APC in the last local government election, as well as other leaders of the party.
