Chairman, Hon Chidiebere Emeribe
Owerri Municipal Legislative Council otherwise known as the 7th Legislative House has moved a motion of Vote of Confidence on the Excellent performance of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Builder Chidiebere Emeribe on his 100 days in office.
The Motion was passed on Friday 28th February 2025 at first Plenary Session of the House by Hon. Christopher Onyenwere.
Moving the Motion at the floor of the House, Hon. Christopher Onyenwere said the Executive Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council, Hon Bldr. Chidiebere Emeribe has demonstrated outstanding leadership, vision, and commitment in piloting the affairs of the Council since assumption of office.
He said that the Chairman’s administration within just 100days has embarked on and successfully implemented impactful policies and projects aimed at improving the lives of the people of Owerri Municipal Council.
” The Chairman in collaboration with his capable Vice chairman, Hon. Sir Lawrence Okoye and the Secretary to the Council, Hon Hilary Uche Ebere and the Supervisory councillors, have exhibited transparency, accountability and an unwavering dedication to good governance.
His leadership has brought about remarkable achievements in infrastructure, sanitation, security, education, health care, and other key sectors, earning him the admiration and support of the people.
We encourage the Chairman and his team to sustain the momentum and continue their examplery service to the people of Owerri Municipal Council”, he stated.
The Motion was seconded by Hon Agbugba Osinachi, Hon Ikenna Mba, Hon Amadi Ejike, Hon Nnoham Kelechi, Hon Ahurumibe Paul, Hon Chika Collins, Hon Iwuchukwu Ifeanyi and Hon Maduabuchi Confidence.
Another Motion was moved by Hon Agbugba Osinachi urging the Executive Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council Hon Bldr Chidiebere Emeribe to as a matter of urgency liaise with the traditional rulers and relevant stakeholders to set up a timeline for immediate conduct of town union elections
He called on the residents and stakeholders of Owerri Municipal to remain law abiding and cooperate with the necessary authorities for a smooth transition to democratically elected town union leadership.
Agbugba urged the security agencies, to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process.
The motion was co – sponsored by Hon Christopher Onyenwere, Hon Iwuchukwu Sylvester, Hon Amadi Ejike , Hon Collins Obih and Hon Ahurumibe Paul.
The Motion to rename, renovate, and equip the health center in Azuzi Ward 1, Owerri Municipal Council was moved by Hon Amadi Ejike Emmanuel.
Moving the Motion, Hon Amadi Ejike Emmanuel noted that the health center in Azuzi Ward 1, presently known as Water Side Health Clinic, Amaigbo/Oparanozie street, Owerri serves a critical role in providing health care services to Azuzi Ward 1 community.
He said there is need to rename the facility to reflect the identify and heritage of the local community by adopting the name Umuonyeche Health Center, Amaigbo Oparanozie street Owerri Municipal Council.
Amadi hinted that the facility requires urgent renovation and refurbishment to enhance its functionality and service delivery to the people of Azuzu Ward 1 and beyond.
He added that there is a critical need to equip the health center with essential drugs, medical supplies and modern health care facilities to improve health care delivery.

The Leader of the Council, Rt Hon Soronnadi Justice said the motions were all adopted by the Honourable House and he proceeded to pass resolutions and approvals on the motions.
Soronnadi said the legislative arm has been working in synergy with the executive arm of the Owerri Municipal Council to ensure a smooth transition in Owerri Municipal Council.
He added that they will always support the executive arm to maintain the tempo and ensure that the dividends of democracy get to the people through the Wards.
