David Akanmu Emerges Overall Best Graduating Student at UNILAG with Perfect CGPA of 5.0

David Oluwatomiwa Akanmu has secured the title of the Overall Best Graduating Student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), boasting a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0.

Akanmu’s outstanding academic performance which has positioned him as a true genius, earning accolades from the university community and beyond, has been a trait from his early days. As a result of harkwork, he was awarded the NNPC/SNEPCo National University Scholarship, OxBridge-Unilag Alumni Initiative Scholarship, and Unilag Endowment Fund, among others.

His father, Prof. James Akanmu, is a professor of civil engineering at UNILAG and lectured him in four courses: Introduction to Civil Engineering (200 level), Engineers in the Society (200 level), and 2 Environmental Engineering courses (500 level).

Although the prestigious title of Overall Best Graduating Student reflects not only his intellectual prowess but also his dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence throughout his academic journey, he was also involved in other extracurricular activities. During his undergraduate years, he was involved in social impact functions and was a recipient of the Millennium Fellowship in 2019. He is the author of the book “Roadmap to 5.0, The Not-so-hidden Secrets to Academic Success” written to educate students who would love to attain academic excellence.

His success not only brings honour to UNILAG but will undoubtedly serve as a source of inspiration for aspiring scholars and a proud moment for the institution.

Akanmu currently works as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
