Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), a UK-based company operating in Nigeria from Awka, Anambra State, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigerian workers on this year’s International Workers’ Day.

In a statement released on May 1st, the organization praised the commitment, resilience, and unshakable spirit of Nigerian workers across all fields, despite economic and systemic hardships.

DDM described workers as the heartbeat of the nation, whose daily efforts sustain the Nigerian economy even when faced with inadequate wages, unstable infrastructure, and poor working conditions.

“Today, we honor the unsung heroes from teachers and civil servants to market women, artisans, doctors, and digital creatives,” the statement read. “You are the strength of Nigeria, and your labor should never go unrecognized.”

The company emphasized that May Day should not only be a time for celebration but also a moment of serious reflection and renewed commitment to improving the lives of working Nigerians.

It called on both government and corporate institutions to prioritize workers’ rights, welfare, and safety, especially in a time when inflation and insecurity have worsened daily living conditions.

DDM also warned about the continued exodus of skilled professionals from Nigeria due to neglect and lack of opportunity, calling it a national emergency that must be addressed.

“We cannot afford to keep losing our brightest minds to foreign countries. We must build a nation that rewards merit, values skill, and supports labor,” the statement said.

As a media company deeply engaged in the digital and diaspora space, DDM pledged to continue using its platforms to advocate for the dignity and prosperity of Nigerian workers.

The organization called for increased investment in vocational training, digital innovation, and youth employment to reduce dependency and poverty.

It urged Nigerian leaders to adopt policies that reflect the true value of labor, including the establishment of a living wage and stronger enforcement of workplace rights.

In its message, DDM also recognized the role of unions, labor activists, and NGOs in defending worker interests and promoting social justice.

“On this Workers’ Day, we join every Nigerian in honoring your sacrifice.

“We see your efforts.

“We feel your struggle.

“We share your hope,” the message concluded.

Diaspora Digital Media reaffirmed its commitment to promoting stories that inspire, educate, and empower the working population of Nigeria and beyond.

As Nigeria marks another May Day, DDM believes that with courage, unity, and the right leadership, the future remains bright for every Nigerian worker.

“Happy Workers’ Day, Nigeria from all of us at DDM in Awka and the UK.

“Keep striving.

“Keep shining.

“The world is watching.”
