Dem kill 24 pipo and detain 1,200 pipo for di #EndBadGovernance protest- Amnesty International

Human rights group Amnesty International don accuse Naija police say dem dey use too much force against pipo wey dey demonstrate during di #EndBadGovernance protests wey happen between August 1 and 10.

Di protests wey happen for everywhere for di country, na bicos of plenty frustration over harsh economic condition.

Demonstrators dey call for reforms and beta governance, but di protests sabi turn violent for some places.

For statement wey dem release on Wednesday, Amnesty International talk say di police response to di protests involve use of excessive force, wey cause di death of plenty pipo.

Di statement talk say, “Naija police use excessive force against protesters during di nationwide #Endbadgovernance.”

Demonstrations wey happen between 1-10 August, don kill at least 24 pipo for states like: Borno, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa and Niger, na wetin Amnesty International talk for briefing wey dem publish today.

“Bloody August: Naija Government’s Violent Crackdown on #Endbadgovernance Protests” dey show how dem take dey use violence against peaceful protests wey dey against plenty corruption and economic wahala.

Dem wey die include 20 young pipo, one older pesin and two children.

In all cases, police don shoot di victims, dey fire live bullet for close range, often for head or tor so, e mean say officers dey shoot to kill.

Two survivors get injury afta police shoot dem for arm and leg, odas dey suffocate bicos of di way dem dey use tear gas anyhow.

For Kano, 12 pipo don die for Rijiyar Lemo and Kofar Nasarawa.

For Jigawa state, 3 pipo don die for Hadejia, while 1 pesin don die for Kofar Sauri, Katsina state.

For Kaduna state, soldier don kill one minor for Zaria while police don kill one pesin for Kaduna.

For Maiduguri, 3 pipo don die for A.A. Kime Filling Station for Bolori Junction.

For Niger state, at least, 3 pipo don die along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

Between 12-17 August 2024, Amnesty International carry out field research for Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa states.

Dem gather evidence wey include videos and photographs, as well as accounts from eyewitnesses, medical workers and victims’ relatives, friends, and acquaintances wey dey ground.
