In a dramatic turn of events, former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasiru El-Rufai, has backed Naja’atu Mohammed’s claim that Nuhu, the current National Security Adviser (NSA), once accused President Bola Tinubu of being “the most corrupt politician.”

El-Rufai, known for his bold political stance, stated that Ribadu’s recent denial of his earlier accusation against Tinubu indicated a lapse in memory.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that he firmly supported Mohammed’s statement, affirming that Ribadu had indeed made such claims in the past.

The controversy stems from a legal battle between Naja’atu Mohammed and Nuhu Ribadu.

Mohammed, a prominent politician from Kano, had recently posted a TikTok video reiterating Ribadu’s former allegations against President Tinubu.

In response, Ribadu’s lawyer, Dr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), sent a letter demanding that Mohammed apologize and retract her statement, threatening legal action if she failed to comply.

However, Mohammed refused to recant and challenged Ribadu to take the matter to court.

El-Rufai, in a Twitter post on Wednesday, came out in defense of Mohammed, pointing to historical records that corroborated her claims.

According to El-Rufai, Ribadu made similar accusations during his tenure as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2006.

El-Rufai stated, “Naja’atu’s statement is correct,” citing the newspaper reports from 2006 and 2007 that detailed Ribadu’s allegations against Tinubu.

He also referenced official government documents, which he claimed could be subpoenaed from the Cabinet Secretariat of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) office.

El-Rufai further emphasized that the events of 2006, particularly a Federal Executive Council meeting, contained discussions that supported Mohammed’s version of events.

He shared a page from a 2007 Daily Trust newspaper article, which he said confirmed the truth of the statements made by Ribadu at the time.

El-Rufai’s insistence on the accuracy of the historical record is meant to strengthen Mohammed’s position as she continues to face legal pressure.

The backing of El-Rufai, a political heavyweight, adds weight to Naja’atu Mohammed’s defiance against the legal challenge posed by Ribadu.

As the dispute intensifies, El-Rufai’s intervention is likely to fuel further controversy, especially considering his assertion that the evidence exists in public records, available for scrutiny.

The outcome of this dispute remains uncertain, but El-Rufai’s involvement has undoubtedly heightened the stakes.
