Enisa on fire from Nigerians after unfollowing Davido on X

Nigerians have on Thursday, August 22, 2024, called out the Kosovar-American artiste Enisa on X (formerly Twitter) and have massively unfollowed her X handle because she unfollowed Davido and other Nigerian social media influencers.
Enisa’s handle @IamENISA has in 24 hours lost over 25k followers and still counting as Nigerians leave in droves, saying they are not done with her.
Nigerians say that the reason behind the mass unfollowing is due to the fact that her unfollowing Davido and others shows ungratefulness on her part.
Observers Nigerians wonder why Nigerians would not channel this same energy they use on X against other countries to Nigerian government to make Nigeria a better place.
Others, meanwhile, think that this is not an issue, as she has the right to unfollow anyone or do whatever she wants with her account.
It was noted that Davido and Wizkid have done something similar on Instagram in the past.
Some also say that Nigerians always focus on irrelevant issues hence, taking the country backwards and hindering prosperity.
This was going on amidst the “aura for aura” Nigeria versus South Africa Bolt and Uber prank.
After the call-out and mass unfollowing, Enisa followed Davido again in the early hours of Friday, August 23.
How did Nigerians make Enisa?
Going back to 2021, Enisa’s rise to fame in Nigeria began when she started engaging with popular Nigerian influencers on X.
Influencers like Smallie and Dapsy helped her connect with her Nigerian fanbase on X.
She then started gaining widespread recognition across Nigeria through the social media platform.
Her popularity soared to new heights after the music superstar Davido featured on one of her songs.
Davido featuring on the remix of her song “Love Cycle” catapulted her to even greater stardom.
Nigerians went as far as giving her a Yoruba name “Eniola”.
The name “Eniola” means “a person of wealth”. She appreciated the name and often used the name on X.
Enisa’s connection to Nigeria is an example of the global nature of music and the power of collaboration to bridge cultural and geographical divides.
