FBI arrest US soldier for leaking military secrets to China

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), on March 6, arrested a US soldier for allegedly leaked military secrets to China.
The suspect Jian Zhao, is an active-duty army supply sergeant stationed at a military base in Washington state.
It is allegedly that, he has gathered classified US government hard drives and sell to individuals in China.
In a statement, made by the Department of Justice, the thefts started in July 2024, with Zhao allegedly receiving $15,000.
He is being charged on grand jury, including bribery, theft of government property, and transmitting national information without authorization.
According to the charges, it’s reads:
Zhao, with other accomplices,“did knowingly and unlawfully conspire, to obtain and transmit documents, writings, photographs, instruments, appliances, and notes relating to the national defence of the United States to individuals not entitled to receive it”.
Also, the FBI arrested two other suspects, active-duty soldier Li Tian and ex-soldier Ruoyu Duan.
Furthermore, FBI alleged that Tian would gathered sensitive military information on US Army’s operational capabilities.
This information covered US military weapons, sold to Duan between November 2021-December 2024.
In a statement made by the U.S Attorney General Pam Bondi, he said:
“The defendants arrested today are accused of betraying our country, actively working to weaken America’s defence capabilities and empowering our adversaries in China”.
“They will face swift, severe, and comprehensive justice.”
